Compilation of figures, data and facts on the topic of gender equality in Austria

The legal equality between women and men in Austria, as enshrined in the Federal Constitution, has not yet led to de facto equality in all areas of life. The empirical presentation of differences and similarities in women’s and men’s realities and opportunities is an important prerequisite for increasing awareness of gender-specific inequalities, for making changes measurable and pointing out specific policy action fields related to gender equality.

To this end, a compilation of figures, data and facts on gender equality in Austria has been created, covering the following topics:

  • Gender-specific educational pathways
  • Distribution of paid and unpaid work
  • Socio-economic situation (including gender pay gap)
  • Health and care
  • Representation and participation
  • Gender-specific violence
