Women’s barometer 2009

Conditions for a safe, independent and self-determined life as a woman in Vienna

The “women’s barometer” is assigned annually by the Woman’s Department of the Vienna Municipal Council in order to display the actual situation of Viennese women. 2009 the emphasis was set on labour market and the survey asked for the basic conditions for a safe, independent and self-determined life as a woman in Vienna. The perception and use of support offers for women and of possibilities of participation were the central topics.
The basic tool was a representative telephone survey among women in Vienna, completed by focus groups with different groups of women.
