JustWork: Capacity Building for Worker Participation in Just Transition
There are many good reasons why trade unions are campaigning for more democracy in the workplace. Particularly in times of far-reaching transformation processes in the economy and the shocks to our society caused by multiple crises, workplace democracy creates resilience and the potential to shape the future.
In addition to institutionalized co-determination opportunities, the claim of employees to have a say in company decisions also plays an important role in the democratization of the workplace. The JustWork project examines this claim for participation in the participating countries (Bulgaria, Austria, Serbia, Slovenia, Hungary). Under what conditions is this claim for participation high? What factors reduce its level?
The results of the research are subsequently incorporated into capacity building formats for trade unions. The aim of these formats is to build and further develop skills for participation-oriented interest representation in the workplace. In this way, trade unions are supported in promoting workplace democratization and thus supporting the implementation of the EU Minimum Wage Directive, as well as contributing to the social shaping of current transformations (green and digital).
JustWork is implemented under the leadership of the International Department of the Austrian Trade Union Confederation. Trade unions from the participating countries are also involved as partners.
