Digitisation – Industry 4.0 – Work 4.0 – Gender 4.0
Questions about the future organisation of production and the future of work in general recently have been (re)moved into the centre of the debate on technological change. In this context, the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection has commissioned the research institutes L&R Social Research and the Centre for Social Innovation to summarise the current discussions on digitisation, industry 4.0 and the future of work against the background of possible gender dimensions.
The focus was on three topics:
- Discourse “Industry 4.0” or the search for gender-promoting approaches
- Control possibilities and subsidies 4.0 from a gender perspective
- Expected qualification profiles 4.0 from a gender perspective
Methodologically, a literature analysis, interviews with experts and a three-part workshop series were used. The exchange between experts and practitioners from the fields of gender equality policy, labour market, innovation and technology policy as well as from training institutions, funding agencies, social partners and companies was an essential cornerstone of the study at hand.
The results of the analyses, interviews and workshops are now available within the final report. In addition, the presentations, which were the starting point for the discussions in the workshops, as well as the final presentation of the study in December 2017 are available.
