Development of a guideline on gender mainstreaming and gender budgeting
Gender equality has become an important policy area throughout Europe in recent decades, partly due to the legal obligations on gender equality, gender mainstreaming and anti-discrimination enshrined in EU law. The starting point is the fact that different genders can be affected by political and administrative decisions in very different ways. The guiding principle of gender equality requires political actors to analyse the different needs and concerns of women and men in all projects and to design decisions in such a way that they contribute to the promotion of actual gender equality.
To support the implementation of gender mainstreaming and budgeting in the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, a practise-oriented guideline is being developed. The aim is to support the employees of the Climate Ministry in all departments in systematically integrating gender-specific aspects into their work. Thus, awareness should be raised to include the needs and perspectives of all genders in all administrative tasks.
