30 Years of Free Movement of Workers (2023)

In recent years, Austria's overall labor force has experienced strong growth, which can be attributed in particular to a significant increase in the share of immigrants. In addition, strong changes are also evident with regard to workers transferred and posted from abroad.

The study is primarily based on document and literature analyses. It summarizes and comments on the developments of the last years/decades - as far as the historical materials allow. On the one hand, the analyses already carried out in L&R's studies are supplemented by secondary analyses of current documents and data sources. On the other hand, in order to be able to present current findings as well, the primary path of literature work will be supplemented by empirical work. For this purpose, current data on posting and transfer from abroad will be processed and analyzed.
